Anna Wheeler

Anna Wheeler is an emerging young artist from Marrickville in the Inner West. She has had 8 solo exhibitions and has also been part of numerous group shows. Anna was a 3 time finalist in the Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship and a 3 time finalist in the Mosman Art Prize. She was awarded second prize,the encouragement award in 2013 for the Women on Boards Art Prize.

Anna graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the National Art School in the year 2000. Her painting is figurative, yet abstract. Anna paints mainly in oils and acrylics on canvas. Her paintings are very thickly textured.

Anna's work has always had a a strong use of colour which she uses to explore interests in classical mythology such as Venus and the theatrical figure of the Harlequin.
